This leather skirt has been in my closet for a long time and is one of my most treasured finds even though I haven’t worn it as much as I should. One reason is that it’s just too big and the second is that leather tailors are just very expensive. So I shrug and throw on the skirt, maybe add a belt, or just otherwise roll with the low slung waist line. Leather skirts, whether real or faux, can be a great functional wardrobe item. Genuine leather is a material that holds up well, is pliable and looks amazing. It can be expensive to purchase, however, and some put leather and fur in the same category (for obvious reasons) and stick to faux options. Since I buy most of my pieces second hand, I do not mind purchasing a genuine leather piece as I am recycling while also avoiding fast fashion cheaper options. Style wise, leather skirts look great with everything from flats to heels to boots and can easily be dressed up or down with sweaters, scarves, button downs or blouses. I like to think of leather skirts as the choose your own adventure wardrobe piece – that white button down and flats will have you looking art gallery chic, while the t-shirt and combat boots screams rocker. Same skirt, but the adventure is all up to you.
