Midweek Chic: Winter Safari

2012.12.12WinterSafariChristmas is coming, Christmas is coming!  Despite a few blistery cold days (the day these photos were shot was one of them) and Christmas treats and cards popping up on my desk at work it has not felt like Christmas this year.  Maybe it’s because we only put up a fir wreath on our door or because life is just so busy, but either way I am looking forward to the end of this week as it marks the beginning of lots of family time and a chance to slow down and celebrate.   2012.12.12WinterSafariBack 2012.12.12WinterSafariOpenJacket 2012.12.12WinterSafariWallI started out in the day with this outfit sans socks (and admittedly liked it better without the pop of blue) but it was just too dang cold, so out came the wool socks.  The green button down is actually a dress from Target that I found for about $8, but can only remember wearing it once that way and the other times have been like here – layered under a skirt to be worn as a top.  What do you think?  Does it work as a top?  Anyone like the pop of blue with my safari inspired outfit, or should I add different color knee socks to my Christmas wish list?

Outfit details:

dress worn as top – Target / skirt – American Apparel/ boots – Aldo / socks – my mom’s old skiing socks / belt – thrifted / earrings – Stella and Dot / coat – H&M
