The best thing about Sundays are the chance for me to try color/pattern/fabric combinations that I wouldn’t usually wear thanks to the working world (chasing after clients with oppositional defiant disorder is not advisable in a heavily sequined dress and wooden platform heels). I purchased this “bag” skirt on sale from J. Crew a month or so ago with the intent of it being a work skirt. Never having actually work it, I was anxious to try it out. I love the awful brown color and its side pockets and thought it would be perfect for a chic European black/brown pairing.
I layered two black shirts – one 3/4th length sleeve with a racer back silk top to create extra layers and texture. Next were my “nude-go-with-everything-peep-toes” and my
travling pack J. Crew bag purchased from Plato’s Closet ($8!).
I always top off an outfit with a statement piece of jewelry — either vintage or thrifted. This necklace was purchased at the Festival of India last year and it adds just the right amount of color and style. Have you tried any striking color/pattern combos lately? What are your favorite statement pieces? Do share!
