Midweek Chic: Vintage Winter

2012.12.30VintageWinterOutfit2Happy New Year!  Ok, so technically a day late and these photos were taken last week, but in keeping with my spirit of 2nd hand 1st and dressing in mostly thrifted/consigned items, it is fitting for a New Years post.  I feel my best, and consequently most creative, when I can combine thrifted pieces like this red leather skirt with a modern silhouette such as these pointy heeled Stuart Weitzman’s.

My favorite parts to this outfit are the little details: small pearl studs, the handmade necklace that my sister crafted as a Christmas present from my dad’s collection of seashells, and the contracts between the fabrics, colors and styles.  And in case you were wondering how I did in the dressing part, the final tally of my items is: 6 items thrifted/consigned, 4 items purchased retail, and 1 handmade item.  Here’s to a year of creative dressing!

Outfit details:

top – sweater from Goodwill / leather skirt – thrifted from Fantastic Thrift / jacket – J. Crew from warehouse sale / tights – Target / heels – Stuart Weitzman from Baggio / purse – Guess from eBay / necklace – handmade by my sister / earrings – Target / sunglasses – thrifted / rings – 1 vintage, 1 Stella and Dot
